Vicente R De Jesus

De Jesus rose to prominence in local politics during the late 1990s. In 1998, he was elected municipal mayor of Koronadal. During his term, the municipal government strongly pursued the conversion of Koronadal into a city, a move that required national legislation and a local plebiscite. The effort succeeded when Republic Act No. 8803 was signed into law on August 16, 2000, officially creating the City of Koronadal. After the plebiscite ratified the law, De Jesus became the first City Mayor, making him a key figure in the city’s political history.
